Airtravel

Fly to Hamburg Airport (HAM) or with cheap airline (Ryan Air i.e.) to Hamburg- Lübeck (LBC) and go with train to Schwerin Hauptbahnhof (ca. 20 €) - (1 ½  hour travel time from each airport)
From Hamburg airport you take the S-Bahn #1 to Hamburg Hbf and then a connecting train. From Lübeck you take the train from the nearby trainstation (300m) to Schwerin.

Go to Schwerin Hauptbahnhof (Schwerin Hbf)

• the Hostel will be another 15 minutes walking distance east from there

When you come down the stairs of the track you turn left and take the exit towards city center. Then you go across the square and pass the fountain to your left. Go down the hill (Zum Bahnhof) to your left towards the little lake "Pfaffenteich". Look straight across the lake (east) and go to that street/ intersection counterclockwise around the lake. Now go up the hill (Gaußstraße) to Schelfmarkt, keep right and pass the church to your right still going straight. Walk straight down the hill (Kirchenstraße turning into Amtstraße) to the stoplight and turn left on Werderstrasse. In about 300 meters "you've arrived at your destination".

• or with Bus #10 or #11 (direction Schelfwerder) from Hauptbahnhof to Schelfmarkt and then another 5 minute walk

Get off the bus and turn right. Go towards the church and turn left, right before you reach it. Walk straight down the hill (Kirchenstrasse turning into Amtstraße) to the stoplight and turn left on Werderstrasse. In about 300 meters "you've arrived at your destination".
